Create labels for mail in simple Gmail.
Step 1: Sign in to Gmail at the address: gmail.com.
Step 2: Click the settings icon and select “settings” from the drop-down menu.

Step 5: Type the name of your label, and click “create”.
Note: Do not check the box “nest label under”.
Step 6: Go to the “filters and blocked addresses” tab.

Step 8: Create your new filter. Once you’ve filled in the fields, click “create filter with this search”.
Note: You do not need to fill-in all of the text fields.
Step 9: Apply your label.
Note: Click the “also apply filter to matching conversations” checkbox and the “always mark it as important” checkbox.
- You can also check the “star it” checkbox, which will add a star next to each of the emails within your label.
Step 10: Click “create filter” and refresh your Gmail.
Step 11: Change colors.
Upon hovering your mouse over the label folder, you’ll be presented with a drop-down, which will allow you to change the colors of your labels.
